Getting Started with TabiPencil

TabiPencil is a free web app for planning trips together with your travel companions. Instead of one person carrying the whole plan, everyone shares the work — schedules, bookings, expense splitting, and packing lists all live in one shared itinerary.

• Send a link to invite friends, and everyone can edit at the same time
• Multi-currency expense splitting makes it great for trips abroad

To start planning a trip

1. On the top page, choose "Start planning your trip" to open the creation form.
2. Enter a name for your trip in "Title" (for example, Okinawa Diving Trip).
3. Add your companions' names under "Members" (you can also add them later).
4. Pick your start and end dates under "Dates".
5. Press "Create Plan". Your travel plan is created and a share link for your members is displayed.

The travel plan (your itinerary) screen is organized into four tabs.

• "Schedule": the heart of your plan — a day-by-day timeline where you arrange your plans.
• "Prep": checklists for packing and to-dos to manage trip preparation.
• "Split": records payments and automatically calculates who pays whom.
• "Gallery": shows all photos attached to your plans in one place.

To edit together with friends

Use "Share" at the top of the travel plan screen to send the invite link to your members. Anyone who opens the link can join just by entering a display name — no account registration needed — and start editing right away. See "Inviting Members to Edit Together" for details.

What you get by creating an account

You can create and edit plans without registering, but logging in unlocks the following.

• Access your list of travel plans (the dashboard) from any device
• Add and remove members, regenerate the invite link, and delete travel plans
• Save packing list templates and reuse them on your next trip
• Forward booking confirmation emails to create plans automatically

Ways to use TabiPencil

• Graduation trips and first trips abroad: everyone moves on the same itinerary, so nobody gets lost even in a big group.
• Managing bookings made by different people: keep flight and hotel confirmations as plan memos and attachments, and on the day of the trip this is the only screen you open.
• Settling advance payments: record payments during the trip, and by the ride home the settlement amounts are already calculated.
• A solo planning notebook: start as your own research notebook, and when you want company, one link turns it into everyone's trip.

TabiPencil works in the browser on smartphones, tablets, and PCs. The mobile app additionally offers offline itinerary viewing and push notifications.
